There are multiple ways to get involved, from development to translation and packaging.

Development

The project welcomes positive contributions, for instance, by fixing bugs or reducing the To Do list.

Gnome Subtitles is written in C# and released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

The following libraries are mainly used:

Checkout the latest code from the GNOME SVN:

svn co http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-subtitles/trunk gnome-subtitles

Next, `cd' to the project dir and checkout the latest SubLib code from the Sourceforge.net SVN:

svn co https://sublib.svn.sf.net/svnroot/sublib/trunk/sublib

Finally, run `autogen.sh' to generate the build scripts. (Note: you need to have "gnome-common" installed. It should be available in your distro.)

You can now proceed to Building from Source, in the download page, to build Gnome Subtitles.

Please check the list of existing translations for the user interface and the help manual.

If you want to contribute with a new translation, either contact the project maintainers or the Gnome Translation Project.

For user interface translations, a PO template file can be generated from the `po' directory using the command:

intltool-update --pot

Packages are welcome for distros not referenced in the download page.

Besides this list, a special need exists for a Gentoo package maintainer, as the current maintainer can no longer support the package.
